Foshan University has grown considerably since its founding in 1958. The continual development of the university has led to a space shortfall. In view of this, the university will embark on a large scale campus expansion to support the further development of the university.
New campus is located at the lakeshore of Dali Town in Nanhai District with overall scheme covering 2704.3 Acres. Based on the principles of overall planning with several phrases, the first round covers a land area of 16145 acres, with a total construction area of 311,378 square metres. Total investment valued approximately 900,000,000.00RMB. The expansion plan is supposed to accommodate full time students of 12,000. Financial support is fully provided by local government, university's contribution and others social investment.
The plan will be implemented in several phrases, expected to commence in late 2006 and end in 2008. The expansion will significantly upgrade the campus environment and facilities and, by extension, will also ameliorate the teaching, research and learning ambiance. Upon completion of the plan, originally scattered faculty/school and departments will be integrated and situated to one campus.
New campus plan is a significant base point for Foshan University to move forward.
