II. Application Qualification
Applicants should be A. in good health;
B. under 60;
C. native English speakers from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or Ireland;
D. responsible, punctual, logical thinking, willing to work overtime when needed; and
E. Bachelor's degree holder or higher, with relevant teaching experience or participation in pertinent training program, ideally with TESL or TEFL certificate.
III. Working Hours & Benefits
1. Working Hours
Maximum 16 hours per week. However, occasional overtime should be expected. (Foreign English Teachers will be teaching courses at both Department of English and InternationalSchool. Courses include Extensive English Reading, Writing, UK & USA Literature, Introduction to UK & USA and so forth.)

A. Salary
The range of foreign teachers’ monthly salary stands within RMB5,300 - 6,300 commensurating with the applicant's qualification and working experience. Salary for two semester breaks (no classes during the spring and summer vacation) is fully paid to foreign teachers. For those who renew their contract upon one-year fulfillment, their salary will be increased year by year.
B. Accommodation
Each foreign teacher is offered a 2 bed-room apartment with en-suite bathroom/toilet, free of charge. House furniture, electric appliances including TV, refrigerator, telephone, washing machine, heater, air-conditioner, etc. are provided in each apartment. Besides, necessary living furniture will be supplied.
C. Convenient Transportation
1. The university is 10-15 minutes' walk to downtown FoshanCity.
2. Bus stop stands in front of University's main gate.
3. Travel to Guangzhou: there are shuttle buses to Guangzhou every 15 minutes from 7am to 9pm at FoshanZumiao Bus Station which is 15 minutes' walk from the campus. Alternatively, it takes you 15 minutes from Foshan to Guangzhou by subway to be accessed in year 2006.
4. Travel to Hong Kong: by ferry - costing RMB160 at ShundePort; by shuttle bus - costing RMB 160 available every day at downtown area; or by train - you will find it more convenient and comfortable to travel HK by train costing RMB220.
D. Medical Care
Foreign teachers enjoy the same medical welfare as other staff at FoshanUniversity. The reimbursement of medical treatment with receipt from the University’s clinic is up to RMB200 per month (discounted by 20% off the full amount).
E. Further Benefits Once the candidate is offered a position as a foreign teacher at FoshanUniversity,
1. the University is responsible for applying for his/her Foreign Expert Certificate, Health Certificate, One-Year Working Visa / Residence Permit.
2. the University will pay for a one-way air-ticket after foreign teachers fulfill the commitment of one academic year.
3. the University will pay for gas & electricity bill (up to RMB 200 per month), and local calls of the phone bill (up to RMB 50).

V. Additional Information
1. Applicants who wish to work at FoshanUniversity for one year or longer have to sign contracts (one semester or one academic year) with FoshanUniversity. The start date of contract is February or August.
2. International Office is a functional institution of coordinating international exchange and cooperation programs at Foshan University, which has permission to recruit foreign experts/teachers as well as obligation to introduce to foreign experts/teachers China’s domestic situation, educational guidelines, policies, laws, and relevant regulations so as to help them better understand Chinese culture and respect Chinese customs and traditions and observe laws, decrees and relevant regulations promulgated by Chinese government and those enacted by Foshan University. For those with prominent achievements in their teaching work, International Office takes the responsibility of recommending them to apply for Friendship Award at the provincial level.

4. What are the student’s age and their English proficiency?
Two groups:
1. Students of English Major (age: 18-22), who can all read, write and speak English.
2. Students of pre-study abroad classes (age: 18-22).
5. What is the class size?
Class size: 30-45 people per class in Department of English; 10 - 15 people per class in InternationalSchool.
6. Teaching courses and textbook?
We offer a wide range of subjects for English Majors and pre-study abroad students, such as Listening, Reading, Writing, Oral English and British & American Culture, Literature, ect. Each course has its own book decided by Department of English and InternationalSchool. And we often renew textbooks.
7. Any other teaching activities outside the normal teaching? Usually no. But if foreign teachers are required to work overtime beyond the contracted hours, extra payment will be rewarded.
8. Monthly salary?
It depends on the teacher’s education background and teaching experience. At least RMB 5300.
9. Air-ticket?
We provide one-way return ticket after the foreign teacher's one year fulfillment.
10. Accommodation description?
One living room, one dinning room, two bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom with seated toilet, TV, phone, refrigerator, micro-wave, heater, hot water, air-conditioner, washing-machine, house furniture, mattress bed, linen, pillow and so on.
11. Where is my apartment? Who pays for the accommodation fee, water, electricity, or phone bills, etc.? On-campus. We pay for the accommodation fee, the water, electricity & gas bill (up to RMB200 per month),and local telephone bills (up to RMB50).
12. Internet Access?
Currently, there is no internet access in the apartment, but foreign teachers can get access by subscribing to the dial-up service which should be paid by themselves. As an alternative, foreign teachers are free to use the computer facilities (with internet access) at the ComputerCenter on campus.
13. Full-paid winter/summer vacation?
Yes.
14.Free medical care? Any medical insurance?
Foreign teachers enjoy the same welfare as the staff at FoshanUniversity. Foreign teachers will get 80% reimbursement of medical service incurred at the campus clinic of FoshanUniversity (up to 200RMB per month). There is no medical insurance for foreign teachers, however, foreign teachers can buy insurance policy from AIG (part of AIA) or other insurance companies in China.
